FEMA mobilized to address deadly power outages.
The White House authorized emergency support in the wake of a severe winter storm that hit New York state on Monday. Winter Storm Elliot dumped feet of snow as it passed through the state, with Buffalo being hit particularly hard. The storm caused multiple power outages and emergency services were stalled for days as many streets remained unplowed. Due to this blend of conditions, 28 deaths were confirmed in Erie County and one death was confirmed in Niagara county.
The White House’s emergency authorization allows the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all disaster relief efforts as they deem necessary. Hundreds of federal military workers have been deployed to distribute supplies, aid emergency services, and finally clear the streets of snow.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For FEMA officials as they assist state and local recovery efforts.
- For the military personnel as they render aid to those trapped in the blizzard conditions.
